- I am working with Word 2011 and EndNote X7 on my MacBook Pro. To solve a problem of the communication of this two programs I need to find the 'Office Registration Cache'. But at this path /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/ there is no 'preferences'. (Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5).
- For EndNote X9 and Word on Macintosh: The simplest way to get the tools to appear is to open EndNote, and go to the EndNote menu. Select 'Customizer' from the EndNote menu. Check the box in front of the 'Cite While You Write' option. Click next until the Customizer is finished.
For the CWYW Tool bar to appear in Word. Open Word - click on the Word menu and select About Word. Check you have at least version 15.25. If not click on the Help menu and select Check for Updates. Follow the steps to update Word. Use the Customizer in EndNote to add the Toolbar; Close Word; Open EndNote. Click on the EndNote X8 menu. EndNote recommends Firefox for Mac users because it provides a dialog box that lets you tell the databases the path to EndNote. When the dialog box opens and asks you to choose a program to open the item you've exported, go to your Applications folder, then your EndNote folder, then click on the black and red EndNote icon.
2) Quit your word processing program AND the whole connected Office suite.In other words, quit Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Closing the window (clicking the red button) is not enough. Make sure you File>Quit.
3) Download the Firefox web browser. Safari has trouble exporting database results to your EndNote program. Chrome usually exports single references just fine, but sometimes gets glitchy with several references exported at one time. UGA Libraries still recommends that you use Firefox as your EndNote export browser. You can certainly have several browsers, and use something else for personal browsing or other projects.
The first time you send database references to EndNote, you must designate the program to open files in Firefox . Follow the directions in the video.
- Firefox does not have to be your default browser.
- You do not need to remove other browsers.
